January 24, February 21, March 21 – Public Safety Breakfast
A fun and engaging monthly meeting with representatives from the Police and Fire Departments. Complimentary bagels and refreshments are provided. Join us at the Buffalo Grove Park District, 530 Bernard Dr, Buffalo Grove from 10:15-11:15.
February 7 & 9, March 7 & 9- AARP Smart Driver Course
The AARP Smart Driver Course is designed to help you tune up your driving skills, learn about normal age-related physical changes and how to adjust your driving to compensate, and reduce your chances of receiving a traffic violation or getting into an accident. Upon the completion of the two-session class, you will be issued a certificate, which may be submitted to your automobile insurance company for a possible discount.
Cost: $20 for AARP members and $25 for non-AARP members. Checks
should be made payable to AARP and mailed or dropped off at the Township Office prior to your first class. Classes are held at Wheeling Township from 5PM to 9PM. Call 847-259-7730 to register.
March 5- CPR Class
The first Thursday of every month is certification for Heartsaver CPR with AED (Automatic External Defibrillator). It is a two-year certification and the cost is $50.
BLS for Health Care Provider (HCP) is offered the second and third Thursday of the month and is designed for the Healthcare Provider in a workplace setting. It covers basic CPR plus 2 person CPR, use of the AED, use of a Bag-Valve mask, and barrier precautions. Adult, Child & Infant resuscitation are covered and all classes are taught to current American Heart Association Standards. Class requires a written test and skills practical. Remediation, if needed, will occur immediately after the class. Cost is $50 for a 2 year certification.
Classes can be arranged off-site. Contact 847-537-0995 and ask to speak to the CPR Coordinator. On-site classes are held at the fire department headquarters training room at 1051 Highland Grove Drive from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm.
April 18 – Senior Citizen Expo Extravaganza
Join us for the annual Senior Citizen Expo. This event, hosted by the Friends of the Parks Foundation and coordinated by the Buffalo Grove Park District and the Village of Buffalo Grove, provides a dynamic one-stop shop for seniors to interact with vendors and service providers, enabling them to become familiar with the wide range of services available to them. The expo will be held from 10 am – 1:30 pm at The Arboretum Club, located at 401 Half Day Road in Buffalo Grove. For further information please contact Terri Ebner at 847.850.2117.
